engine sucked in water need help....
my 91z28 was in a fresh water flood and the engine has water in it. i drained the oil today and water cam out for a second. i then pulled the number 1 plug and water came out of the head. what do i need to do to get this thing running again? i am puilling all plugs tomorrow and will attempt to pop start it to see if the engine rotates at least. if it does thats good. but what else should i do. the water got up to the plenum. the rest of car is ok luckily just some minor cleaning and elctrical stuff and new parts and new everything.

Drain oil, refill. Change filter.
Pull all plugs and crank with plugs out to get all water out.
Re-install new plugs and try to start.
After it starts, run for a couple of minutes, change oil again.
The key is to get the water out of the engine as soon as possible. It will do bearing and cylinder wall damage.
We were out wheeling one day and sunk a toyota 4wd in a river, it stalled and we got it winched to the shore.
We cranked it over and it fired right up after it cleared the engine. Not the best thing to do but it worked.
Was it running when it injested wa-wa??
If so, you might have some issues with crank to piston clearances......
Now as far as the computer and other electrical items...thats another post in a couple of months.
Edit: Don't forget to check all other fluids too (rear end, trans, etc.) These all have vents that will let water in.

If this happened in Oct. and you are just now getting the water out, you may be too late.
Rings + rusted cylinder walls + water sitting in crankcase = VooDoo

wd-40/pb-blaster or some other rust buster down the cylinders to break the rust free. If it's cold enough where you are the rust might not be that bad.
