Car pinging/knocks during acceleration..
Hi guys....
Just recently I changed my thermostat to 160 degrees. Found out my car didnt run well with it. I changed back to 180 degrees and the car runs great; however I recently noticed that it knocks during acceleration. I have my timing set at 6 degrees TDC and had been running it for a while now without problems until changing my thermostat from 160 and back to 180. Should I just run it for awhile to get the computer to learn the 180 again? or should I retard it back to 4 degrees? I never had a problem with 180 with 6 degrees TDC until I changed to 160.

I would take it back 2* and see if that helps any.
Is the car consuming oil any? Blowing smoke at startup b/c of valve seals or anything? If so the oil would cause knock at startup and acceleration...
