Car has a hard time starting
Great, on top of the cooling fan problem I'm having (see my thread in cooling), now the car's being difficult when it's time to start it. I'll jump in it to start it. When I turn the key on, I can hear the fuel pump pressurizing, but when I go to start it, it takes forever, and I have to gas it a bit to finally get it lit, then it runs like garbage until I rev on it a little bit, and it finally settles down to a somewhat normal idle. After looking at a few of the other posts online here, it seems that it may be my IAC valve, or possibly a MAP sensor. I replaced the fuel filter 2 months ago, I just put in a new o2 sensor a week ago, and the MAP sensor is about a year old. Should I start looking into the IAC?

Sounds like you have a few leaky injectors. Get a fuel pressure gage and monitor your fuel pressure after shutdown.

I agree about the injectors. Pumping the gas when you're cranking to get the car started means the car is flooding out...you pump the gas to give it more air to bring the mixture back down enough to get started.

^ Exactly what he said. I had the same problem, tried everything. Finally ripped my intake off, lifted the fuel rail and primed my pump. It sat there for a few seconds then, drip...drip...drip.....

Check pressure after prime, then after start and running, THEN, after shut down. That way you can diagnose the fuel pump and the injectors all in one shot. I'd say, if your injectors aren't leaking, your pump is producing less than minimum pressure, or the pressure regulator is out of adj.

Thanks for all of your help! Well, it turns out that one injector is leaking(front injector on the passenger side), as I found fuel coming out of the top of the injector. Now comes the fun part, tearing into my fuel rail. i'm studying the tech article on how to do an injector swap, but my problem is this: which # fuel injector to get? i've seen a few different ones out there, and just as many recommendations for which one to get. But if I just have my plain old stock 305, which fuel injector will I need? This Sunday will be the big day for me to do this thing, so any help would greatly appreciated.

You don't need new ones. Just send your injectors to Rich at http://www.cruzinperformance.com/
I had four of mine leaking and he fixed them all. After my last exam tomorrow, I am going to start putting the car back together.
Although leaking injectors might not be your problem, it seems that an o ring has gone bad. Seeing that you said its coming from the top.

Another note: Now it's running like garbage all of the time, and it smells rich coming out of the exhaust, it even sounds like a soft backfire once in a while when it's in park. I know it's probably a stupid question but I just need to know if that is related to an injector going faulty.

Well, it IS running rich because of that injector. That can cause all kinds of minor havoc. Spark plugs, O2 sensor, etc. Fix one problem at a time. If it doesn't get better, move on to another potential cause.
A 305, I IMAGINE, would take like 17 or 19 lb/hr injectors. I say this because my 302 takes 19's....so I'm just making a generalization here.

Thanks for all of your help. It certainly was that one injector, and I just decided to eat it and get the one from Autozone, even though the dude at the counter didn't even know how many lbs it pushed, but that's ok. After 4 hours and many dirty words (The metal fuel lines on that damm car will be the death of me), it's running just peachy. Thanks again!
