92 Camaro RS 3.1L - Swap out the engine?

I'm really kinda tired of having just about everything pass me... 144 hp just isn't cutting it anymore!

I'm wanting to swap out the engine to a 305 TPI or a 350.. Has anyone else done this?

Can someone give me some info on how much this should cost?

I want to leave my T5 transmission if at all possible. That should cut the costs a bit!

Well, I havent actually done the switch, but I did check into it, and see how much it would cost me. I decided to sell my 305 RS and buy a 90 Iroc or 91-92 Z28 with a 350.

In doing the swap, you can always keep your T5, but it wont be able to handle the power, and will more than likely break. I don't think the stock rear end will take the power either, so that would probably have to change. I believe the headers and exhaust system would also have to go. A simple swap just keeps adding up. I got the 305, and it made more sense to sell mine, and for another $3k-$4k buy the whole car.

Just my look on it. If you know enough to do the swap yourself, and don't have to pay for labor it might be worth it...

cya,
Jay

No, the V6 trans will not bolt up to a V8.

Unless you're in love with your car, then it would be better to sell and buy a stock 8 cylinder. Your tranny won't bolt up, your front springs should be replaced too, and other minor things. You'll need brackets, a TPI (if you're goin TPI) and all that junk, so it would be cheaper to just buy one.
