On my 89 RS that I just bought, I've noticed a funny grinding/buzzing noise. It happens immediately after the engine starts, then quits; maybe a half second's worth. It isn't that loud, someone a few feet from the car probably wouldn't be able to hear it.

Is this the starter not disengaging? Is there any way to fix that without replacing the whole starter?

Where does it sound like its coming from? Front, rear, engine bay? Need some details before a diagnosis can take place.
