CRAZY!!! Check this out!!

Ok now I know this sounds weird but tonight when I was changing plugs and so on.. I was pluging back in my "stock" oil press sender ((cause I put a aftermarket one in the cab on the pillar)) and the keys were not in it the fuel pump kicked on and started pumping !!!! What the he!! ???
I've had both of them hooked up for a long time and I unpulged it a while back on accident and never got around to pluging it back in

it will only run if I pluge it in and stop when I pull it out???

whats up with that??

The fuel pump works off the oil pressure sensor. If low pressure is sensed, then the fuel pump will turn off. (This is how I heard it works). Try dixconnecting your battery then hooking the sensor up and see what happens.

yes, that is a factory safety 'feature'

shuts your fuel off in case of oil pump failure...saves GM in engine replacement costs.

It's a safety feature, such that if you're in a wreck or something and the engine stops running, the fuel pump will shut off even if the key is still on.

so what do you think that means when the car was off and it kicked the fuel pump ON
Is that right for it to do that??
In order to save the motor when the oil stops pumping and the extra fuel like cools it down or what? I dont understand cause it comes ON when there's no oil pressure

I'll disconect the battery and then plug it in...
thanks guys

When I changed my engine it did this same exact thing. there was a relay of sorts to the fuel pump (been a couple years, cloudy on details) and it was fried. 12 bucks or so and I was back on the road again. My pump ran for 9 hours before I noticed and didn't hurt anything.

The fuel pump will turn on when oil pressure is sensed. Sounds like your relay is bad.

Hec,

The relay yoou are looking for should have a black/white stripe, orange, dark green, tan/white, and blue or green wire in the last connector.

I'm not sure what the other relay would be on a S-D Camaro.
