door rattling . and wtf is this i found?
ok so last few days, when i close my door, i hear a rattling like something loose inside.
so today, i got enough light to look down into the crack where the window slides down, and at the bottom of the door, i see a coil spring about 3" diameter laying in the bottom of my car.. not connected to anything. now anyone know what this is for?
everything on my car works fine, locks and unlocks from inside and out. power door locks work, window still rolls up and down. and i can still adjust my mirror.
and how would i go about getting inside of my door to remove that spring or.. put it where it should go?

Might be the spring that goes with the window crank..I think it just keeps the door panel away from it...you will have to remove the door panel and reach in through the holes to get it. Get a chiltons manual, it will show you how.
I was initially thinking it might be the spring behind a manual window crank, but they are less than 2" in diameter. I'm baffled about what might be there, but I'd get it out. I'd also use the opportunity to clean and regrease the window guide channels.

Ya know when I took off my door panel I found that there were all sorts of extra parts in there.
Is there an RPO for this factory option?

Is the spring made from round wire like a suspension spring, or is it made from about a 3/8" flat bar wound around an axle? If the latter, I would say it's the spring from the window regulator.
You shouls be able to pull the bottom portion of the door panel off the door frame and reach in to remove it.

those springs are to assist in the rolling up of the window. Yes they will still work fine will just require more effort on your part to roll them up

we could guess for the next week. Its going to take YOU pulling the door panel and posting a pic of what you find, before we can be sure.

i just wanted to update:
i pulled off the top trim, and used a coat hanger to go down, grab the spring/coil thing, and pulled it up no problem.
also was a business card down their about losing weight..lol
i looked at this peice for a moment, took a flashlight inside my door.. hmm, nothing looked right for it, so i was like, oh well, and tossed it in the local bushes
more door now weighs about 2lbs less then all of yours :hail:
