Really stumped

Okay...my car was on it's last legs, so I rebuilt the engine. Now I have it back in, and it runs great, sounds great.....but the throttle is sticking, the accelerator pedal takes major leg power to push it.....and it's overheating. The timing is fine, it's got water, and the fan works. The carb is an Edelbrock 650, and is almost brand new. Any suggestions? I miss my camaro!

Temp. problem:
Fans working?
Radiator and block full of coolant?
Water pump belt tight?
Timing set correctly?

Throttle Problem:
Find the friction in the throttle system.

Disconnect the throttle cable, TV cable and Cruise cable.
Operate the carb. linkage by hand.
Is there friction or sticking with the cable disconnected.

Yes? Repair the carb.
No?

Actuate the throttle to gas pedal cable by hand.
Free and smooth?
No?
replace the throttle actuator cable.
Yes?

Actuate the TV cable by hand.

Is it free and smooth?
No?
Replace the TV cable
Yes?

Operate the Cruise cable by hand

You should have the idea by now.
