Borrowing my friends ws6 for a couple days, wow is it fast

I traded cars with my friend for a couple days. He has a ws6 trans am. Holy **** is that thing fast. It has the 6 speed. I was just wondering what engine it has? LS1? How much horsepower does it have? I have to get an engine like that for my car. It's a 97 trans am with the WS6 package. Thanks.

I think it does have the LS1...but I'm not sure. The LS1 engines easily run 13's and sometimes higher 12's stock. A very nice engine indeed.

I have major traction problems when I am driving it. I can put it in 1st punch it and I just sit there and I end up maxing out my rpms. I love it. It's great.

Welp, i'm thinking it's the LS1 and they dyno around 325 - 330 (Figures taken from actual dyno results) on average. 13.3 is common stock, 12.9 is more common with K&N's, airbox lid, and a ported MAF. Although don't get me wrong, some do run 12's stock, but more common to see 13's.

Like Mkos1980 said, it has an LT1. LS1 did not appear in F-Bodies untill 98. I think the LT1 had 275 hp stock, the WS6 package added a bit with the ram air, I believe.

I know that to see what engine our cars have you look inside the glove box. Does anyone know where to look for this car?

Oh another thing, I raced a z28 today. I think that it was around a 93 - 97? Not to sure it was that type of body style. but anyway I killed it. I don't know if it was because a woman was driving it though? But I killed her. hehe. I love this car.

The motor is an LT1 and 285 horses.
I drove my friends 96 T/A with the M6, 4.10 gears, headers, and a cutout.
That car blew my mind. He can smoke 1st and 2nd and chirp 3rd and 4th.
He ran a 13.42 a couple of years ago. Got a 13.67 last saturday with a 20mph head wind.

From what I have read in Motor Trend, stock LS1 F-bodies will usually run somewhere in the 13.8-13.6 area. The LS1 Vettes are running low 13s stock, I have seen from 13.3 to 13.1, reguardless, they are f***ing fast!!!

Just pop the hood and look at the plenum, if it's aluminum and looks pretty kewl, is a LT1

If it's black plastic and looks like hell (or it's missing a cover) it's the LS1

LT1, The 97 TA's were rated at 305hp with ram air, I think 285 standard, Kevin, LS1 began in 98

Or you could take the simpler and easier way and look at the 8th letter of the VIN through the Windshield. I do that all the time around here when I see F-body's because I'm curious.
