GM TDC Piston Stop (Hot Rod Magazine)

According to the June 2004 issue, GM sells a brass, hollow (vents cylinder pressure as you turn the engine over), 14mm threaded piston stop for use with heads on engine.

P/N is 12364087. I haven't checked with a dealer for availability, but thought I'd pass that on to you all here.

I may have to look into this.

For reference, here is the info off GM's webiste:

12364087 Piston Stop
This piston stop is designed to positively locate Top Dead Center during camshaft degreeing. Constructed of brass and drilled to vent cylinder pressure, this unit screws directly into cylinder head spark plug holes and eliminates the problems associated with locating Top Dead Center when changing camshafts or rebuilding an engine.

Technical Notes: This stop has a 9/16" hex head and 14mm threads.

Pretty cool, that should save a few minutes off trying to get it dialed to dead 0.

GMpartsdirect has it listed at $6.95.

I have one that's all rusty and I can never find it when I need it, cause it falls to the bottom of the box and hides.
I think I'll get one of these shiny new ones!
