im doin a cam, intake, and head swap on my car. the engine is a 79 350 with the driver side dip stick. i ported the 305 heads and put in new valves and bigger springs and everything to swap on the 350, well i pulled off the 350 heads and the temp guage senser is in the passenger side head, well it wont fit on the 305 heads. so what do i do? where does it go? thanks

The driver's side head. That's where is should have been in the other motor too.

The heads themselves are identical. They both have sensor holes in identical places. There will be a pipe plug, which you can remove if need be, in any hole that didn't have a sensor in it before.

There's also the possibility that you have a ½" pipe sensor and 3/8" pipe threads in the heads, or vice-versa. If your sensor is to small to fit in the heads, you can get a pipe bushing at the hardware store; if the sensor is too big for the hole, get a new sensor.

on my edelbrock intake there is a plug right beside the neck, it fits perfectly in that coolant passage, would that work? if not do you know a part number or a price for a smaller senser? thanks alot

That would work, but wouldn't be measuring the same temp as the head. It would always read lower than you're used to.

You can get a sender at any parts store; don't know a part # off hand; they're real cheap, like $5. Just ask for the one for a 84 Z28 or something, it will be the right one.
