gas mileage

When I start my car it takes a while to warm up. I have a 160* stat, 3 core radiator, and performance water pump. Usually even before I get to my destination my car is not warmed up yet, Ill just drive it. Is this bad for gas mileage, do you need to let your car warm up before any driving?

The 160 degree thermostat is too cold for your car, unless you've got other mods that would require it.

It's a good idea to let your car warm up before driving, but not quite necessary. I'd take it easy on the throttle though until it was warmed up.

I'd suggest just putting in a 180 at the very least, the 160 throws your computer off and for an everyday driver car you want it to run at 180-200. Why do you think Nascar runs at 210? Mainly for longevity. The only reason for a 160 stat would be for a drag strip. Or i guess if you tuned the chip to work for the colder stat it would be ok. I just prefer to run the 180 stat and then let the car run at 200 the whole time, doesn't hurt performance too much and you will probly get better gas mileage

They run Propylene Glycol which has very different characteristics than normal Ethlyene Glycol + water. Their coolant temps are higher but the metal temp of the heads is lower.
