You probably have some sort of one, since you do have a Trans Am; but it's a bottom-of-the-line one, so it may or may not have "the" performance package.
Look at your RPO codes. If you have WS6, that's "the" performance suspension. If not, then you don't, you have the base-model TA setup.

Look at your build sheet. It might be on the bottom of your console lid, or it might be in the locking compartment in the rear.
If you don't have that, it's anybody's guess what your car came with.

It's an 89, you sure they were not asking you if it was a 1LE car? I didn't see any difference between my freinds '89 T/A and my '89 GTA in terms of front brakes. The 1LE on the other hand did have a diferent front rotor size, which follows that the pads are different.

yea...reguardless if you have WS6 or not youll still have the Shyty 1 pistion corsica calipers...(different mounting points, but its the same caliper)...WS6 was a suspension package and didnt have squat to do with the brakes (unfourtunetly)...
The 1LE brakes could never be confused with the cor i mean camaro calipers..there dual piston and aluminum...the spindles and steering knuckles are also different..the rotor is a 12 inch 9C1 police package rotor....

The guy has a TBI car.
Where did all this 1LE talk come from? He dosen't have that. He's got a L03 car. Bottom of the line. It's not an issue. He has drum brakes, like he said, not 1LE stuff. I don't think we have to concern ourselves with it.
It might possible have been ordered with the stiffer springs and shocks though, not that any of that matters any more except as a historical curiosity, since they're all completely worn out and used up and turned to garbage anyway no matter what they started out life as.
At this point, no matter which springs and shocks the factory put on his car, they're dead. Whatever magic may have been conferred upon the car with its potential sprinling of fairy dust, has probably worn all the way off by now. The best we can hope for is to help him figure out what he's putting in the garbage as he repairs it.
The console lid is the lid to the thing in the console, right between the 2 front seats. Somteimes they put these cars' build sheets there. Sometimes they put them in the locking storage compartment in the rear, opposite the spare tire. If you don't have a build sheet there, then I'm afraid you're out of luck.
What difference does it make which suspension the factory put there? That is to say, if you knew exactly what the factory put there, in the most minute detail imaginable, what would that information enble you to do? What are you really looking for, that we can help you with?
Do you like the way it drives? (yes/no) The "suspension" proper is all the exact same in these cars, whether they're 6-cyl or 1LE (except that the 1LE cars got slightly harder rubber bushings in the rear LCAs... big deal); all they did was to put in some one or another selection of springs and shocks and sway bars. All of those are soft parts, easily unbolted and swapped. If you want it stiffer, or softer, or lower or higher, or whatever, all the stuff to do that can be bought, and it makes no difference whatsoever what the car came with, as to which ones you would want to buy.

whenever the parts guy asks you if you have the performance suspension package.... or if he asks if you have 1LE, say no.
otherwise, he'll give you the wrong part.
btw, your version of english hurts my brain.

I must have got a brain cramp somewhere in there, I completely overlooked the part about brakes.Bottom line, you don't have 1LE, so as far as the brake pads go, it's not the "performance" whatever. Just the normal ones.
Incidentally, they're also Cutlass calipers, Monte Carlo SS calipers, Caprice calipers, and a whole lot of others too; just about all the GM cars used the same ones for years and years. Same pads too for that matter. Which is mighty convenient, and also makes the calipers dirt-cheap.... they're like $15 or less for reman ones.
The thing on your dash is trim, not a real part. Trim and stickers are always cheaper and easier to apply than parts, for the factory just the same as for Honduh owners. Designed to enhance the feeling of satisfaction in the new owner who just paid $18,000 for the car and wants some reinforcement. Don't take it too seriously.
Bummer about the build sheet.... not that it's necessary or anything, but it can be handy sometimes.
