Swap cost? LS1 vs. LT1 in a truck?
so just recently i think i might have come upon two good deals. I found a local LS1 w/ 2000 orig miles out of a 2002 camaro for $1200, havent heard back from the guy yet though. Also, found a local LT1 currently for $600 on ebay, complete and running. It is from a 95 camaro.
My question is which would be the better swap into my 94 silverado? its an ex cab, 4x4 lifted and is a DD that sees some towing. What are the stock specs on each engine, and what is their "expandability" versus cost? I have heard the LT1 is easier, but that the LS1 is still the rocket ship, but more expensive to build. My goals would be around 350-375hp and 450-500 ft lbs ultimately, so what would it cost to get there? roughly speaking of course, factoring in the cost of swapping these into my truck and making everything work right.
thanks

Do you even know what the emission rules are regarding engine swaps for your area? if not, dont get ahead of yourself.

as far as i know from people on this board who have done multiple swaps, the area rule is basically the swap must be same year or newer than the vehicle it is going into, and also must meet that vehicles emissions requirements. so since the LT1 and LS1 were both available after 94 im alright

If thats the case, with simple upgrades, the LT1 can be brought to those goals rather easily and for a cheaper price than the LS1.
