Chemical Produkts

Hallo to everybody,
I think, it´t a good idea to start a new thread ( old one : https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...hreadid=240916 ).
I´ve no screw and no bearing left in my engine. I´ve cleaned everything very carefully. Now I have to order some ( a lot of ) parts, and now my question : What kind of chemical products do you suggest ( RTV, grease, oil, cam break-in fluid ... ) and for what puirpose.
I reinstall the old cam ( with new bearings, but the old lifters ), do I need to do a cam-break-in again ???
Thanks,
Uwe

Engine assembly lube works great for assembling the motor. Use regular oil for the break in on the engine. Rtv works good for sealing up the leaks that a gasket doesnt fully take care of.

As for the cam. You do not need to break in the cam. The lifters are already worn to theyre cam lobe. Thats why it is important to mark the lifters for location when you are disasembling an engine.

Use anerobic PTFE sealant (such as Loctite PST) on head bolts, intake bolts, and water jacket bolts in the front of the case. A thin layer of RTV on both sides of the intake gaskets around each of the outermost passages will help seal the cooling passages. RTV sealant on each side of the intake end seals ("China Wall" gaskets) will seal them nicely.

Beyond that, the best advice I can offer is to clean all gasket surfaces thoroughly, so there are no traces of remaiing gasket nor sealants. Clean gaskets on clean metal will seal well without chemicals.

For assembly, any ISO 68 or 100 mineral oil will work well. Use it liberally.

I use Permatex High Temp thread sealant on the head bolts, pump bolts, etc. Great stuff.

i use lubriplate 105 for assembly lube. permatex ultracopper RTV, loctite PST thread sealer, brake clean from wal mart, and k&w copper spray on sealer on the head gaskets.
