My car is like that too. It usually takes a few tries to pass somebody before it will take off good enough. Im thinking its a fuel delivery problem. Im taking my tank off to clean it out real good and see if the pickup is clogged.

Whens the last time either of you changed your fuel filter?

Stealthmode, do not yank the tank until ever other possibility has been eliminated. Its not a very pleasant job to do. Can it be done, yes. Is it something i would avoid if i could, hell yes.

I changed mine about 100 miles ago. I had been having problems where the car would just die. And it wouldnt start for a few hours. I had pin holes in my gaslines and when the pickup would get plugged a little it would start sucking air. After i repaired the lines, when i drove it, it would shift up to second and then around 3000 rpm it would slowly start to slow down until i let up on the gas. Before it would just pop and die completely.

Not a timing problem

Probably not an EGR problem either

Sounds like you have two problems: Bog when going WOT at low RPMs, and cut-out at high RPMs.

For the bog, make sure the choke pull-off is working properly and/or adjust the secondary air valve tension.

If the fuel filter is new, most likely your fuel pump isn't delivering adequate pressure. That could be from a weak fuel pump or plugged pick-up sock in the fuel tank.

Check your O2 sensor, it may be FUBAR. If its toast, your engine will run very rich (I know, I been there)... which can create the bog you are talking about, and possibly the top end, or lack-of, as well.

The ECM goes open loop at wide open throttle. O2 sensor is ignored.

Oh... good to know I guess

I still think it sounds like its running rich... that sounds exactly like how mine acted when it was running rich (almost completely worked out now)

I had that same problem in my T/A and it was my fuel pump. It eventually gave out on me.

The secondaries and fuel bowl operate the same whether manual or computer-controlled q-jet.

My bet is AV bog with fuel starvation.

If it can help to solve the problem.....when i start the car...it take a few WOT to make the car runs good....if i put it WOT on the first straigt line, the RPM goes down and i have have to remove my foot off the pedal....then after a few WOT it work good....
