motor mounts.

i know that when you get poly motor mounts, you have to reuse the clamshell from the old ones.

other then going to a junkyard, do you know where i can get the motor mount clamshells? is anyone making new ones?

Any reason you dont want to reuse yours? If the surface rust is buggin ya, just get them sand/bead blasted prime/paint and call it a day.

I reused mine when I switched, but now ordered solids for my real motor

time.

not only would i spend the time removing mine, but i then still have to put them on the new K member.

my plan envolves assembling the K member and trans assembly, dropping the stock K member, motor, and trans, then just bolting the assembled motor, trans and k member assembly in.

never done it that way before, but it looks fun.

LOL,, that's what I keep hearing!! I talked to a guy at nationals that was running a 385 in his 98 camaro and said the engine swap was great. He said you can literally bolt everything including headers to the motor and raise it all into place from the bottom....would neccitate a lift though

Kinda like a picture I saw from a Ford dealership changning a head gaskets on a super duty. They lift the entire cab off the chasis to be able to get at the stuff. Looked cool and you could literally get at everything. Guy was saying it takes about 30min-1hr to unbolt/unhook everything from the cab to be able to lift it off.

Think of all the time it took for you to get online, type this message and check for replies...could've had 10 sets or so refurbished and ready to go!!!

Good luck!! have to let us know how the bottom up trick works. Wanted to do the tubular K member so bad, but the budget for the new drivetrain and components did'nt allow it at this time.

Okay, it's not just the clamshell, but I doubt you're going to do any different w/o going to the JY.

you're probly right.

i suppose i'll just have to take the extra time out to get the old ones off... it'll still be quicker then going to the junkyard.
