hard start issues
im having some trouble starting my car. 88 iroc 305 tpi auto. it doesnt start by just turning the key. i have to let it crank for 5-10 seconds while giving it a quick 1/4 pedal tap. after that you can smell the gas in the exhaust so i know its starting rich. when its cold out the car will start like it should as soon as the key is turned no cranking.
ideas of what to check?

Depends which motor you have. On the tbi's they are right in the middle of the intake towards the front.
One side note. Theres only one recognized tps signal during startup and thats wot. With the pedal floored the ecm will change the af ratio to about 20:1. Otherwise youll get normal fuel enrichment on startup.

Sounds like leaky injectors. Get a fuel pressure gage and monitor your fuel pressure after turning the motor off.
