Engine Temperature

What is the average running temp for an 87 5.7L 350, NOT INJECTION, edelbrock carb. it has the standard '87 water pump.

also, this squeeling noise just started, it's coming from the pulley area, and it's really loud then when i start to idle it slows and then MOST, not all of the time it stops. What is this noise? could it be the water pump? even though it's definetly still pumping?

That depends upon the ambient temperature, but in your locale, the coolant temperature should maintain between 100° and 105°C, on a stock setup.

i would think your temp would be between 190-220 F and the sqeualing noise is almost certainly your belt slipping. check the tensioner or change the belt
