I need some Horse power!!!!

My question to the knowlegeable today is: How much horse power do I need to kick the **** out of those peice of **** rustang 5.0's?

I am going to build an engine this summer and put it in my little girl. The block is a H.O. 350. (rated 10K RPM)Probably won't build it that fast but I want to be able to kick the fabled 5.0's ace.

300hp with good traction and gears will smoke just about any stock mustang (including new GT's and Cobras). For the non-stock rides (usually with S/C's) you'll need 400hp

acting like a child won't get you anywhere. there is no magical hp number to beat mustangs. to start with finding a stock mustang is like finding an honest lawyer. you should worry about making your car fast enough for you. 300hp in your car will get you in the 13's if it's set up right. that's most of the street cars. about 95% of what's out there you should be able to take. not sure how a 350 H.O. block got an rpm rating though. must be one bought from AOL.

If you can't get the hp to the ground it won't matter how much you have.

Just about any decent 350 should kick a mustangs *** . If they're still beating you then they are not stock, and that's not a big surprise. The camaro and firebird have always and will always beat the panzy little horsey.

At least you're not trying to beat it with a 305. That's a lost cause.

hey us 305 guys have to work with what we have. and yes i have beat all of the 5.0 stangs i have run. keep in mind that most of them are kids (like me i'm 19) and don't know how to tune them to run right. that is how the v6 guys get lucky and think they can keep up with a v8 stang. hate to say it, but there are alot of kids driving camaros that don't have a clue either, so i guess it goes both ways. my 305 ain't nothin special, but i have it running about as perfect as u can get it. i'll outrun any mild 305 car, and almost any stang,( i haven't got the chance to run a 350 car but i would in a heartbeat) a good runnin 305 is nothin to sneeze at.

short story for you, i bought a crate engine with a ton of power, but i got beat by everything short of a moped, why? beacuse i didn't invest in traction. please set up your car to handle the power you are going to put in it or you are going to be pissed when a ride with much less power beats you because you couldn't keep traction through the first four gears (if you have a stick)
and also ask anyone who has a serious power in there ride how scary it is in rainy weather. just some stuff to consider.
