What is the cause of my car dying at idle like this (symptoms within).

A month ago I drove my '88 Formula 350 TPI to work. I had a flat tire on the way, I may have driven half a mile before I noticed it. I fixed it and drove the remaining 200 feet to work. After work I drove back to place I changed the tire and and shut the car down. After finishing my business I cranked the car up. Well after it turned on it died on idle.
I cranked it again and could only keep the engine running by giving the engine some throttle. I was not able to go above 25 mph, even at WOT. I made sure the car was tuned right and the battery and alternator are fine. Checking the trouble codes returned code 33. The definition for this code is "High voltage (low vacuum) at mass air flow sensor (or MAP sensor)". What does this mean in English? Is this something I could possibly check out (I'm a very knowledgable amateur shadetree tech) and possibly fix? If not, what level of pro do I need to take it to? Thanx for any info.

I had the same problem. It's usually related to either a bad sensor, or an open in the green wire. The terminals inside my plug were spread out and wern't making contact, setting a 33. You could also try swapping the maf power and burnoff relays. If you get a code 36 after the switch, the relay was bad. Go through the block charts and make sure the plug is getting good contact before taking a second morgage out to buy a new maf.

Well, assuming nothing died or went bad, it's possible when you jacked the car up, the twisting may have loosened the MAF duct work...look over the duct work between the MAF and the TB.
