Can't Find Air Pump Delete Pulley

I need an AC and an Airpump delete pulleys for a 91 TPI serpentine. I found the ac delete on hawks, but can't find one anywhere else, or the airpump delete at all. Anyone know of where I can find some?? TIA.

Dan

Yes, but you need a tad longer belt, 98.6" off the top of my head. A tech article on the subject will have the exact belt you need.

actually I use a 97.5 inch belt with no trouble, not sure what the tech article calls for. I shift this engine at 6800. this isn't a great pic, but it might give you an idea.

I also deleted my smog pump without using the pulley.

so what did you do, just get a different size belt and pretend it was never there? What size belt did you use, i've heard so many different sizes.

It's a LONGER belt plus a slightly different routing method. I just did it earlier tonight on my wife's 92 RS Camaro. I followed the instructions in the tech article on this board about it. It worked exactly as advertised. Read the article.

The belt number referenced in the article is an old part number and some places have difficulty cross-referencing it to the new numbering system. Just ask for one that's 96.8" long and has 6 ribs.

FYI- I noticed that this belt is every so slightly too short, judging by the tension alignment marks on the original equipment tensioner. If you you can't find one exactly the length called for in the article, go slightly longer (by maybe ~1/2" at most).

When I upgraded my '87 5.7 TPI v-belt to an 88-92 single serpentine system, I pulled the air pump and used the re-routed belt path with the longer belt. So far, after about a year, there have been no problems -- however, I notice the long unsupported belt section where it would normally be supported by the air pump pully, that there is a lot of belt flex which increases when the AC cycles on and off. I don't like the flex and live with the fear of thrown belts at high rpms, so I ordered the air pump delete pully from a GM parts house where it is known as a "water pump pulley." A bonus to installing it is that the two bolts that hold it in also support and strengthen the belt housing frame. GM developed this pully for export cars not requiring an air pump.

Here's the details -- GMPartsDirect.com GM Part #10186167 Water Pump Pully $35.22

yeah I ended up using a 98.6" belt. I just followed the tech article I also replaced the a/c compressor with the delete pulley. I have had it run this way for 3-4 years now.

Any chance of posting a few follow-up PICs of the part mentioned, both aside and installed? ;]
Cheers!

Duck, that was a most informative answer. :hail:
When I did my AC delete, and supercharger install, I tried like 15 different belts before I found two that would work. Now that I rearranged everything, it's gonna be fun again.
