Finally fixed intermittant no start problem
Finally fixed intermittant no start problem
When my motor would get above 190, if I shut it down and waited a few minutes, it wouldn't start until it cooled back down again. No click, nothing would happen unless I let it sit and cool down or jumped the starter solenoid. It ended up being a relay that sends voltage from the ignition switch to the P/N safety switch. The relay is mounted under the kick panel near the hood release handle. I remember a few other people posting that they had the same problem and couldn't figure it out, so hope this helps.

Damn... thanks. That might be my problem, as well. I'm one of the ones you mentioned having had that same problem. I bought a remote location solenoid (haven't installed it yet), but probably won't put it in til a later date. How did you find out it was that relay? Any idea if 91's are the same location? Thanks...

I had my multimeter with me one of the times it did it, and before-hand I unbolted the shifter console cover, so I could easily probe the P/N switch while I turned the key. I found out that the green wire with a white stripe was not getting any voltage, so I traced it over to the relay, wich was getting voltage when I turned the key to crank, but the green/white wire was not registering voltage. It's only a 10 dollar relay at Pep Boys, and I would guess it's in the same location for the 91's.
