spark plug fould out
i just got my 383 in my transam running and i put about 200 miles or so on the engine.. i noticed ever since i started the engine it never wanted to idle correctly.. i hooked it upto my laptop and the o2 sensor was reading real lean then rich again.. so i pulled the plugs and one of the clynders isnt firing its getting fuel and spark.. the plug is fould out and theres some black oil around the edge of the spark plug.. the center is fine and theres a little oil on the threads?
actually all the threads on every clynder has some oil on them but there not fould out only the one is.. this isnt normal? please dont tell me my rings are bad

The rocker covers gaskets are likely leaking. Drips down and colects on the spark plug threads.
The spark plug or wire could be faulty on that cylinder.
Do a compresion test to rule out an internal mechanical problem.

yeah they where leaking i forget to tighten them before i started the engine
i'll do a compression test later today.
i took the spark plug out and started the engine with the fould out plug in the wire it fired.. hopefully i just had it gapped wrong or dropped it or something ..

Just an FYI, the o2 is supposed to wander back and forth like that. It's called o2 crosscounts (surprising, isn't it
)
Optimal is 200mv-800mv, with it centering around 450mv (stoich)
If you don't have crosscounts, or crosscounts with the range specified then you have problems
Glad to see you fixed the problem though
