Getting rid of my 462's, have some ?'s about Aluminum L98's

This is my engine right now

http://www.knology.net/~poison/Z28.htm

However, I am getting rid of the 462's I have due to them being milled alot, and putting my compression in the 12:1 range, and also not having accesory holes. I have a guy that will trade me a complete set of Aluminum L98 heads w/ about 50,000 miles on them even up. Or someone who will pay $450 for my heads. If I decide to sell my 462's then I will just spend another $500 and go with some good aftermarket heads. BUT, I have a few ?'s about the L98 heads (yes I did a search, but can't find these answers)

1) Will my comp XE274H cam w/ 1.6rr work on stock L98 heads/springs?

2) Will I see a big HP loss from my ported 462's to some home ported L98's? (462 = 2.02/1.6 & L98 1.94/1.5)

3) What do YOU suggest.........selling 462's and going aftermarket, or trading for the L98's?

I am leaning toward selling and going aftermarker, but figured you guys are the most knowledagble with the L98 heads.

Thanks

Joe

1) no

2) maybe a little

3) aftermarket

With all the money you would have to put into the AL L98 heads to get them into performance form, you could get some really nice aftermarket heads for a little more $.

I say sell your old heads and save up to get a set of dart pro 1 aluminum heads or bigger if you need bigger. You will not be dissapointed with a good set of darts. Good Luck.

If money is tight and you want a satisfying hands-on experience, get a set of 305 heads and port and polish them. They will outflow stock L98 heads by a country mile and cost you maybe $400 tops

Follow the link at the end of my sig.
