What's the deal with VORTECH

I see alot of these guys here have these Vortech heads. I am just curious about them cause I actually haven't seen them before. How much are they? What do they offer? Who sells them? What makes them so good? Are they better than Trickflow or Edlebrock? Would really like to find out. Thanks.

They are Vortec heads.. GM makes them and they make complete Vortec engines also. Vortech makes superchargers.

Very cool, I didn't realize they were GM, sorry for the Vortech thing, I know they make superchargers, I thought it might have been the same company. Does anyone have the specs on these heads? Thanks.

Well guys, I found a bunch of info on them, it looks like there are quite a few different versions, that range anywhere from 500 a pair to 1500. Thanks.

Some people confuse them w/ the Fastburn heads, which are like $500-$600 a head.

The L31 Vortec heads can be had for a little over $400 for the pair. Pressed in studs, springs good to .480ish lift. You can also buy a HI PO set from Scoggin Dickey for around $550 per pair that supports up to .550 or there abouts. They flow very good for $400ish and feature a nice fastburn-style combustion chamber. They make good power for the money. They are basically a iron LT1 head w/ a few tweaks...

On a 350 w/ a CompCams XE 268, 9.5ish:1 compression w/ a Performer RPM intake and good exhaust they will make 350-380hp, or there abouts. Several mag buildups have been done using them, check around.

For $400 they flow excellently. You can view a flow comparo here. You can manually change the pages in your browser and view the rest of the article as well...
