splayed cap question

first off- how much power can an engine make before it is needed to have a 2 bolt roller block splayed?

also- can you have the original main caps drilled/splayed or do you have to buy the aftermarket pieces?

There's not really a limit; like, at 599 HP you don't but at 600, you do.

It's more like insurance. "How much life insurance do I need?" Well, that depends on how likely you think you are to die, how much your survivors require to carry on, etc. Think about how much it would cost if the engine were to fail because the main caps were inadequate, and how likely that is to happen, vs. how much it will cost you to upgrade your block.

No you can't do any of that to stock main caps. One pic is worth 1000 words.

For anything streetable 2-bolt will do fine.

good deal- thats what i was hoping. i knew it would be good insurance, but i didnt think i needed that much ins. for what i am hoping to be a high 11 low 12 s-10. so- just a fairly high compression 383 with possibly a little nitrous down the road should be fine. any reason to get a main girdle? i am assuming that would be overkill also.

I stole the pic off of Milodon's site.

If I wasn't so lazy, I could have taken a pic of my own set. But, I'm too lazy for that, as that would involve physical work and stuff. I hate work.

Some people say "it pays the bills".. I don't know what wonderland their from, but it definitely doesn't pay my bills.. At least not what I want my bills to be.. (slicks, new chassis, pro crew..etc....)

I guess it does ok for the normal bills.
