oil leak

Just want to see if there is a common leak that would act like this. It is on a 2.8L (soon to be 350). When the car is running there is a constant flow of oil coming down over the oil filter adapter and leaking onto the ground. I was thinking possibly it was the front of the oil pan, valve cover (doesn't look like it), or ?. Anyone seen something like this?

Isn't that where the oil pressure sending unit lives? It isn't uncommon for them to leak through the body. It's been a few years, but I had one do that on a FWD 2.8.

Does it have a distributer? If not, the distributer plug(where the distributer used to be on the older 60 degree v6's) is probably leaking. This is really common, and a pain to fix. All the 60 degree v6's without a dist. had a problem with it until GM decided to use a better seal. My brother-inlaws Lumina Z34 leaks a small stream from it until the engine warms up--then it drips constantly. Head removal on the 3.4 twin dual cam to replace the seal. He traded it.

I had the same problem and it was the same problem mentioned above. On my 3.1 Lumina it would always leak until I got he little round rubber seal from GM. Oil Pump Gear Drive Seal it was called. About 40 cents. It took me about 2 hours to do.

It has a distributor. Someone told me that it still could be caused by this. They said I should pull out the distributor and replace a rubber o-ring. Sounds easy enough. Sound like something to consider? Thanks for the input.

All 3rd gen V6's had distributors. I haven't heard of a distributor leaking unless the o-ring is completely missing. You might want to check closer above the point where it is dripping.
