starter troubles ?
i have some headman headers and i have a full fiberglass blanket on the starter, when i drive it for a long time and shut it off, when i go to start it shortly after it turns over and stops, and does this over and over, let it sit and it starts up after a while, what is causing this? the starter is fairly new i changed it because of this before, what can i do to resolve this? also after it turns over and stops when i get it started the temp gauge doesnt seem to work anymore until it sits

is the heatsheild physically touching the header? could be transfering too much heat.. it sounds like its getting heatsoaked.. is this a factory starter? You might try a mini starter like the lt1 starter.. I switched over when I had similiar problems with my factory starter.. you could also try wiring in a ford starter solenoid.

What starter motor is this? A mini-starter is the ideal fix for people with LT headers.
On a side note, the factory starter isn't known for its cranking power.
