A '91 RS will have TBI, not TPI. Looks a lot like a carb'd engine when you open the hood. TPI doesn't look anything like a carb'd engine on the top.

Shifty & company on the TBI forum can get you pointed in the right direction. When you're done, you'll have the factory shortblock (minus cam), little else.

Sad but very very true. There are many weak links on these cars.

no..no budget set really...she isnt out to make it a full out show/race car just wants some extra power and for it to look nice, thats why i was thinken more along the lines of intake, throttle body, MAF ect. for some extra stuff..her car dose have a MAF right?

she also mentioned new seats...is there a certain year of the newer camaros that mabe it says "camaro" on the head rest or has something fancy on it that will bolt in the 91's?

TBI cars do not have a MAF so you don't have to worry about that. As for part selection, it depends on what you are looking at. Anything that is made for a small block chevy will bolt up to your motor. That includes intakes and exahust.

I would start with the complete exhaust. headers, cat, and catbacl. From there, i guess it's up to her on how fast she wants to go vs. money to spend.

On the main page, in the tech articles, might want to take a loot at "Ultimate TBI mods."

theres a shop about a hour from here that specializes in replacing motors and building motors/machining ect. and she is thinken of using her tax money to have a 350 put in the car, is there any thing specific that should be looked into..like year of motor/block or anything...if they used just a factory 350 that would of come in a 91 camaro will it bolt up to everything thats in there now..mainly the tranny??

Yes they will work fine. As for what 350 to get, that is up to you. An L98 shortblock is always a nice choice for TBI guys going to a 350.

The L98 was the 350 TPI. They come pretty fairly decent heads and a pretty resonable cam right in stock form. Most 350 TBI motors out there are garbage when it comes to performance. They can be made performers but it requires a heads and cam swap. That is no big deal since we are always on a quest for more power, however the L98 provides some power as is.

Well if you are staying with TBI I would look at a set of Vortec heads. If budget does not allow than re-use the stock L98 heads. They can be worked to perform quite well.
