Can I run 1.6 roller tip rockers on the 305??
I have a 305 Z28 and I want to know if I can run the Comp cams magunim 1.6 roller tip rockers. I have stock 305 heads with Crane single coil springs and a crane 272 H10 cam .454 lift 272 dur. Or will I have to modd the heads so the retainers wont hit??

You SHOULD be fine, but check the clearance around the pushrods to be sure. Comp cams recomends this even if it's a stock application.
regardless of what people say here you must check the clearance between the pushrods and the slotted holes in the heads. I needed to elongate mine. CC sells a tool for this but it involves using a dril to open the slots up. so clean up is critical. you will probably need to remove the intake to avoid contaminating your engine. Also when your checking clearance, rotate the engine through at least 2 revolutions don't just eyeball it.

Yes a old thread, but, what wasnt said here is that not all roller tip rockers are not the same AT ALL. some are self alinging and some are not. You need to DOUBLE check the tops of the valves to make sure you dont screw the pooch and have a valve fall into the cylinder.
