Erratic oil pressure gauge

When i turn the ignition on, the gauge jumps around. It normal when the engine is on though. What is going on?

usually oil preasure is related to engine speed, more rpm = more oil preasure. if you're unsure about it first thing i'd do is put a mechanical gauge on the engine and see what you have.

The easiest thing to do is just swap the sending unit... that sounds like what's wrong. It's about $15 and takes about 3 minutes to change.

Cool, thanks. I have never seen it fluctuate before. I will end up changing the sending unit, i just was wondering if it was a normal occurance when the engine is off
