ZZ3 head cleaning

I am in the process of transferring my ZZ3 aluminum heads from my 305 to a 350. What is the best method to clean the head gasket material off without damaging the aluminum? I used the GM head gasket that was designed for this head, and I'm glad I did. I can very easily remove the composite gasket material with a finger nail, but I'm sure there must be a better way... What is it?

Thanks.

There is an attachment for your drill that looks sort of like a roundwire brush (2 or 3" in diameter and often light green) but it is made of a very hard rubber/plastic compound. It should be available at any well stocked auto shop.

A new, sharp razor blade works wonders.
