idling high

My engine idles fine (around 750) for about 15 minutes or so. It'll then go up to 1500. Also, if i'm sitting there and i rev it a little, when the RPM's come down it seems to stop around 2000. What is causing this? The only thing ive done is change my oil and take off my open element to check the filter.

Did you damage the IAT sensor when removing your open element. Did you distrupt the TBi unit at all. It sounds like you may want to check for vacuum leaks. Make sure the TBI is not leaking at the manifold base and check all of the vacuum lines that run the TBI unit. There are 5 of them. If one of them split or came loose your problem could be associated with that.

Well it could depending on the problem. Did this just start to happen or has it been doing it gradually over time?

It just started that day. I looked at the throttle control amd its not sticking, so it has to be something with the fuel injectors. I checked the vacuum lines and dint notice any leaks. As far as the IAT, how can I check to see if it is damaged?

I doubt it is the injectors. I would clean your IAC as well and make sure that is not sticking. Also your CTS sensor could be casuing you fits. Make sure to put a clean drop of oil on the pintle and spring of the IAC after you clean it.

well the old one was looking pretty bad, so i just went out and bought a new one. Didnt help. When i took it back out, i noticed the pintle was able to slide back in, and the spring wasnt pushing it back out. could that be causing the problem? How exactly does the IAC work? What else could be causing the throttle to stick open? It's starting to get annoying when i push in the clutch and the rpms will jump up instead of go down.
