What do you experts think this car is worth?
OK guys, I am still on the search for a new car. I found a 1988 Iroc and the owner is asking $5200 which I think is a little high, but here is what it has.
-350 with hi-po cam and total rebuild $6,000 miles ago (with paper work)
-700r4 trans rebuilt 8,000 miles ago with a mild shift kit.
-New tires with $3,000 miles.
-it also has a 3.73 rear end
-It has t-tops and the weather stripping was replaced. The car has new interior (current owner bought without interior and installed new). the body is in decent shape.
Here is what is wrong with the car.
- the car needs new exhaust system.
- little surface rust under driver side handle and on one side of wheel well.
- Small dent at bottom of rear quarter on bottom side (not very noticable).
So what do you guys think this car is worth? He said he felt that it was worth around $5200. I feel it is worth maybe $4500 or am i too low. well let me know what you guys think.
thanks
Tom

well you should be asking my, i'm pretty well known for offering 100 dollars for just about everything. people still can't belive what i paid for my 68ss camaro, just made a real low offer and the guy took it. i didn't even want a 68 ss, but i sure do like having it now because i know i can triple my money. anyway back to your question. prices vary a lot from area to area. ask your bank what they'll loan on it, that'll give you an idea. all in all it doesn't sound bad to me, i'd offer 4k and see what happens, you can always offer more.

I agree with EDE, Make him an offer that is pretty low, see what he does. If he says no just walk away and you can always come back a little while later and give him a few hundred dollars more on the offer and see what he says. I knocked a thousand dollars off the guys asking price by doing this. And he was pretty stubborn with the price at first. Good Luck.
