Quick help needed
Hey guys. I have an 84 Trans Am with an LG4 (305 4bbl) out of an 87 Trans Am in it. The other day at my girlfriend's house, it wouldnt start. I checked, and no spark. Had it towed home, tested the ignition module, it was bad. So while in there, I replaced the module, coil, cap, and rotor. Now I am getting spark, and I can see fuel being pumped into the carb. Firing order is right on the cap. The thing will not start, not even with starting fluid. I also just replaced the starter. Any ideas on what to check? Could my timing be way off for some reason? Thanks.

are you positive the fireing order is correct i know ive seen quite a few people start one wire off on the terminal ......i dont see how the timing could be off unless you loosened the distributor ....hmmmm

Positive. Did not loosen the distributor at all for any reason. I have enen tried moving the wires on the cap one spot in each direction, no luck.

spark, fuel, compression are all you need for it to run. if you're sure you have all 3 then you need to start checking if it's in the right amount and at the right time. i'd suspect you have messed soemthing up making your repairs.

had the same problem a while back with my new 355.
the cylinders are probably soaked with gasoline, get all the sparkplugs out, and leave them out for a night.
that way the cylinders are dry again, reinstall the sparkplugs and away you go!
it sounds a bit easy, but i promise you that is the problem!!!

Well found my problem. No compression in Cylinders 1 and 3. Probably means no compression in 5 and 7 either. Which probably means ..... blown head gasket? Last time I go to Performance Clinic ....
