Failed inspection!! Please help...

Well I failed inspection today for 2 reason, loose steering wheel and 3rd brake light not working. I have 2 questions:

1. I have heard that you can get the bulbs for the brake light at radio shack and they are cheaper than at an auto parts store. Does anyone know the part number for the bulbs?
2. I need directions on how to tighten up my steering wheel.

Thanx

You need to learn the art of greasing the inspectors hand. My car had a bad gas cap and exhaust leaks, I gave the guy $20 and he passed it.

bulbs are cheap by them at the parts store. I have seen the steering column issue brought up before, if you search you will find a large amount of info.

how do you mean it is loose? does it just have a lot of play in it when turning before it turns the wheels, or does the column wobble?

The whole column wobbles. It doesn't really bother me that much but it bothered the inspector.

As in all the way to the floor? Just tighten the two bolts underneath. If it's tilt and wobbles to the joint, it's most likely the four bolts inside. I think Vader posted directions and pics on how to do it somewhere. That would be a candidate for a .

hehee i just ran into your same problem today....the steering wheel........tried to fix it with the tech article on this site.........nothing happened, so i went to the junk yard and found a column, and did i eve luck out.....i didnt need to change the ignition lock thing.....why you ask? cause i found the keys under the seat so i put it on and i guess the only problem is my wipers dont work now but im gonna tackle that on the weekend.......dont waste time trying to tighten those bolts, its VERY time consuming and chances are you could break something............6 bolts and your whole column is out then put the new one in then 6 bolts back in.....simple
