GM uses Liquid teflon coating and I've used #2 non-hardening Permatex for years with no problems

I use the Permatex liquid teflon and have never had any problems. In the past, before I knew any better, I had put them together with nothing on the threads and not had any problems either, so go figure! Maybe I was just lucky! I will be using Permatex liquid teflon on my 355 though!

I use liquid teflon too. I think the stuff I have is Loctite 430 or 404 or somethin... doesnt matter much, Loctite and Permatex are same same.

Loctite Pro-Lock sealant, part number 81800. I use the Pro-Lock because the larger tubes are a LOT cheaper from industrial suppliers than from auto parts houses. The product is the same as the Permatex consumer packages, but at about 1/4 the cost for an equal volume.

I save a few buck on many other parts in a similar manner.

Hell I bought my small tube (about 6 oz probably) sometime around 10 years ago and still have it
I use that stuff on everything...
How big is the tube you are talkin about? It might end up being around longer than me

A few days late, but for that 2.8 half-rebuild, I used a mix of stuff. One head's bolts got the Permatex #2 in a tube; the other head's bolts got Loctite PST (my friend's dad found his tube). I guess you could call that a scientific test to see which one worked; and they both do, so...
