HORRAY! A NEW PROBLEM! (wipers)

I went to the junkyard today to find a new steering column because mine was all loose so i put it in and had to change nothing, not even the lock cylinder.... (i found the keys under the seat of the car at the yard) everything works, blinkers, hazzards dimmer.........except my wipers.....when i turn the **** to check them, the wiper motor goes (ding) kinda like that.......then nothing....thats all.....it sounds like it wants to go but it just wont. there is power going to the purple and pink wire for the harness that i found that i think the wipers are connected to......i checked the connections on the wiper motor and checked my fuses......now im confused......could a wire be busted in the column? please help a guy out

Check for voltage between the wires running to the wipers (when you have them turned on). If it's up to spec, it's probably the motor.

If the 'new' column came from an 84-92 model year F-body, the wiring for the wipers will not match up to that of the 82 and/or 83.
I had the same problem when I swapped an 84 Z28 column into my 83 SC, and had to rearrange the wiring on one of the column plugs. I had written down what was changed, but for the life of me, I cannot find where I put the list. I do recall posting it up for someone else who had the same problem, so if you search with my username and some keywords (wiper connector column purple white) you might come across the post.
ACtually, I just looked and found it here: https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...nnector+column
