Is it possible to change gears from 2.73 to 3.23 posi?

I am not sure but doesnt GM use different series carriers like a 2, 3, or 4 series? does that mean 2 series = 2.XX gears, 3 series = 3.XX gears, and so on? If so, is it possible to replace the carrier?

Depends on who you wanna buy a gear from. You can always get one from Richmond designed for the 2 series with a 3.23 ratio. I'm not sure that anyone else makes a gear like that. I have also heard of people using spacer rings, but to me thats just another thing to break.

2 series gear go all the way up to 3.08, over 3.08 they become 3 series, and I don't know where the 4 series starts. Yes you can change the series of the carrier, I did this to my 89 Camaro. I went from a 3.08 (2 series) non-posi, to a 3.73 (3-series) positraction.

Also, if you don't want to make the carrier change too, some companies make 3 series gear ratios that fit 2 series carriers. For example I could buy Richmond 3.73s and have them fit a 2 series carrier.
