misfiring and it gets worse as i get up in the rpm

ok im at my ropes end idleing and causal driving it doesnt seem to mis a lick but when i step in to it around 4000 its starts misfiring real bad ive replaced wires ,plugs, cap,rotor unhooked msd and msd coil and hooked up my stock ignition and coil and it still does it so i know its not them i replaced cap a week ago checked it today and it had a little grove between the terminals where it has been misfiring so i put another cap and rotor on it but it still mifiring when i get on it could it be my distibuter?computer? whats ? i have never been so baffeled please help later

well i think you're on the right track, you need to check and make sure you have a good tune up. also check fuel preasure and volumn and i'd do a compression test. no codes set?
