Setting Ignition Timing

When I'm setting my ignition timing I believe I'm supposed to disconnect a black and tan wire. Can someone tell me where I can find this wire specifically on my 83 305?

Thanks,
Adam

Bad info. That applies to EFI vehicles.

Coming out of the bottom of the base of your distributor is a flat 4-wire connector that goes to the wiring harness on the firewall. It's sometimes hard to find in the mess of stuff back there. Disconnect it, set timing, reconnect.
