Rebuilt tranny-huge vibration in reverse, never shifts at same rpm
Rebuilt tranny-huge vibration in reverse, never shifts at same rpm
Something is wrong with it and I cant figure it out. I have a 2500 stall converter from a local company. Well we just rebuilt it and it was fine for a while ,now in reverse it shakes the whole car. Sometimes it shifts hard, sometimes soft. I noticed that it always shows that the tranny is past full of fluid, yet that is impossible because it is leaking fluid pretty badly. I added a quart because I figured there is NO way it could be full and leaking so bad. Now last night it wouldnt shift till 4 grand. HELP

Here is the deal. You said you had the trans rebuilt, right. Did you find out what was wrong with it?? It is not uncommon to have a trans cooler (the one inside the radiator) leak. If it is, the trans is shot and must be rebuilt again.
Once water gets in there, the clutches inside the trans will absorb the water and there is no way to get it out. That include the converter if you have a lockup type.
Drop the trans pan and look at the fluid. If it is cloudy, or you can see water droplets anywhere you are done. It only takes about a thimble full of water to f#$@% the trans up.
Hope this helps.
