Whats the proper timing setting?

What is the proper number of degress BTDC to set the timing at for a '91 350 TPI. I will need to disconnect the brown wire by the front passenger compartment to keep the computer from advancing the timing right? Thanks.

Right! And about 10 degree of timing should be fine. If it pings then back it off to 8. If it still does I guess u would have to go the stock setting of 6. For some reason MAP cars are a lot less prone to pinging then MAF. Just something I noticed.
