heads for mild 350

Hi I am looking for heads that will fit on a 72 350 and still work with my tpi I would like to just use gm parts to save money so is there any heads that will do this, also I will need them to be 67cc heads for it to stay at 10.0:1 compresion. If I have to how would I make the tpi fit the older style head what type of machine work would be needed and also isn't the 72 a 2 piece main seal will I run into problems with this because of mine being a one piece.
Thanks
Matt

Black Z,

Edelbrock supposedly has a Vortec manifold that will slide between the excellent Vortec heads and your TPI.

Check Scroggin-Dickey for availability.

General concensus around here is that the Vortec head is the best bang for the buck on TPI motors, especially with some bowl detailing and headers. Good luck.

If you buy Vortec heads you can have them drilled to except your tpi manifold. Before you buy them call some local speed shops and ask them about it.I work with a guy who owns a small shop and he has a jig set up just to drill Vortec heads.

Vortec heads = special manifold (drilling will allow it to bolt up, but ports still won't match) + EGR re-plumbing + press-in rocker studs + self-aligning rockers.

For a lot less money (less than fixing the Vortec "problems"), you could get World S/R Torquers that will bolt up, keep your compression up, let your EGR work, have screw-in studs, and not need self-aligning rockers or guide plates. And flow just as well as Vortecs.

Why bother with Vortecs?
