Mystery engine rebuild help needed

Hey guys; the previous owner rebuilt a 1985 305 TPI and put it in my car about a year before I got it. I have the slip from the machine shop, but I don't know what all these part numbers mean. I was wondering, if I post the numbers and what I can find about them, if someone can help me determine what parts are in my engine, so I can see if it's just stock replacement, or better? thanks

pistons-534NP flat top (maybe TRW?)
MS-909 bearings
piston rings-251 X
Melling M-55 oil pump

Here is my big concern. The camshaft number I have is CV-12. I found a site that shows this cam being used in a multitude of engines, like a 75-82 262-267, a 57-80 283-400, a 76-85 305, a 68-73 307, and a 67-86 350. Could it be that the same exact cam was used in all these engines, all these years? Anyone got the specs on the cam, and whether it's worse than, the same, or better than the stock 85 TPI cam?

Thanks all for your time

Kev

thats very possible that cam was used in that many engines because you have a non roller type engine.....IIRC

Oil pump is a stock replacement.

Bearings and rings I don't know offhand; MS-909 looks like "main set" but that's about all I can tell.

The cam is probably a "929" replica {insert gagging sounds here}, just a real basic ordinary useless POS cam. .390"/.410", 194°/204° @.050". It was first used in 283s in the mid 60s, and then all the way through the depths of the smogger era, in every SBC Chevrolet made. For many years in the 70s, it was practically the only cam they used. It is anything but a performance cam.... part of the package, along with dished pistons and heads like the 882 and 993 and 624, that produced such thrilling marvels of engineering as 165 HP 350s and 185 HP 400s.

It's about as bad as the stock TPI cam, except it's not well optimized for TPI.
