If your smog pump is making noise then it's probably time to replace it, or remove it all together. Mine seized up on me and roasted my belt

A bad smog pump will not mess with the knock sensor. A knock sensor does not detect noise.

Well if I touch the smog pump I can feel the rattle a little bit.

Knock sensor only detects vibrations in a very finite range or hz level. It will not detect vibrations outside of its small measurement range.

Correct. It is an accelerometer that feeds back a voltage output to the ECM that is proportional to a certain amount of "knock" or "Vibration".
