A comparison of stock L98 Corvette alluminum and Cast iron heads

I basically know the difference between the two. Just have one question. For an example, an 88' corvette alluminum head(how much does it weigh),88'Cast iron L98 head(how much do they weigh)whats the difference in weight between the two.

I don't have exact weight measurements for you, but I've heard that a bare casting of an aluminum head weighs 25 lbs. In comparison, a cast head weighs about 50. So you'll save about 50 lbs if you go with aluminum heads. I just got my corvette aluminum heads delivered, and the UPS sticker said the box weighed 46 lbs. I figure that can't be right, seeing as how both heads were fully assembled, valve covers and all.

I have a set in the basement right now. I threw them on the bathroom scale and they come out at 25 lbs each, assembled with valves, springs, etc. Compare that to a set of cast iron L-98 heads I ALSO have in my basement right now and they are 45 lbs each BARE. So I'd say about a 50lb weight savings off the nose of the car by using the aluminum heads when all's said and done.

Plus, have you even looked at how much better tha port casting and machine work is on these heads versus the cast iron heads? You don't have to port heads for a living to knwo they're gonna flow better.

Wow, 50lb loss. I thought it was somewhere in the 20 lb area. Is it true that the Alluminum heads tend to flex under alot of pressure(heat). I thought alluminum dissapated heat more quicker than cast iron.
