Pinging...?
Pinging...?
Why does this happen? What causes it?
I was going to practice take offs and see what was better with my street tires (1100 rpm or idle). Well starts pinging, then stops...while power braking.
BTW:1100rpm is close to breaking my tires loose.
93 octane...hypertech chip...6 degrees initial timing...
Why pinging? need better gas? engine just sucks, or what?

Usually the timing is too far advanced. Pinging is also called detonation. When timing is too far advanced, the spark prematurely causes the air/fuel mixture in the cylinder to combust which forces the piston back up while it is on it's way down. If you put the timing back to 4*, it will probably stop.
