I did a compression test but not on a completely hot engine. Engine had been off about 1 to 1.5 hours. results were 1 thru 7 cylinders 205,210,215,215. 2 thru 8, 210,215,215,215. Do these results sound to high. I also, noticed my plug had a light black carbon and the white insulator on the plug had a rosey looking color never seen this before. These plugs have been in the engine about 2-3 months since it was rebuilt, does this seem normal. also, car idle is not very smooth at operating temp. I've replaced distributor completely, coil, wires (delco) and plugs again. and even after all this still I have a light miss. Timing is @ 6 degrees. I don't have any problems starting. starts on the first try.
any ideas ! thanks. 5.0 TPI.

I like to also add that my gas milage has gone to crap since the rebuilt. I figured I would have better gas milage. New cat.,O2 sensor, new e-prom (delco). thought after all this expense car would run great.

engine sounds in great shape to me...I don't think you have anything to worry about.

compression numbers look great, you might want to change the timing a little and see if the idle smooths out

ede or jester, I forgot to mention that a while back I readjusted the minium air and at first had a hard time keeping the car on while adjusting. when I did adjust the idle screw I turned it about 1 to 1-1/2 turns for the car to stay running, does that seem to be too much compare to where the factory setting was. also, is it true the setting for 5.0 is 400 rpm and 5.7 450. I set it at 400.
